Restoration of an Art Deco Villa in the South Of France with panoramic views of the bay

Art Deco Villa Restoration: Côte d’Azur, South Of France

Over the course of five years we lovingly restored and designed the interiors of this beautiful Art Deco villa in the South of France. With wonderful views overlooking the bays of Villefranche-sur-Mer and Cap Ferrat on the Cote D’Azur, the villa had sadly fallen into a state of disrepair. The property, including its gardens has a protected status and had been neglected for many years having last been owned by a 1950’s film actress.
The brief was to provide a glamorous holiday home for our returning clients to enjoy with friends and family. We provided a full design service from conception to completion which involved the reconfiguration of the internal spaces including an underground entry tunnel and lift (for a disabled family member), wine room, outdoor kitchen, the terraces and poolside areas.
Working alongside the French architect, who was instructed on the shell and structure only, we were tasked with everything else from restoring the original features such as the panelling & cornicing to designing the sweeping staircase, bathrooms, joinery, fireplace, bespoke doors and even the more complex windows, as well as the lighting & small power design throughout. The kitchen, as with the majority of our projects, was made to our designs by a local cabinet maker.
We sourced antiques, vintage items, and new lighting & furnishings from the UK, France, and Italy with an emphasis on texture, colour, and pattern. We oversaw much of the critical interior site work by FaceTime due to the covid travel restrictions at the time and organised all the furniture and soft furnishings from afar, shipping larger items ahead of Brexit for storage locally, setting up clear schedules for the project managers in France to oversee the install.
