Restoration of a Regency style duplex apartment on one of central London’s most prestigious residential squares
Grade II Listed Apartment - Central London
We completely renovated this Grade II Listed duplex apartment set within one of Dorset Square’s finest houses in central London. The property combines elements of both late Georgian and early Regency architecture and whilst frequently classified under the broader umbrella of Georgian architecture due to its classic London townhouse forms, the historical timeline and specific design details strongly align it with the Regency period. With this in mind we started by restoring all the original features and replacing any modern additions such as the fireplaces with antique pieces more suited to the Regency period keeping strictly to Listed Buildings consents.
We added reclaimed pieces such as the double doors between the kitchen and family room adapting them to fit the existing opening, sourced antique light fittings and furniture throughout, We designed the kitchen in house as we usually do and commissioned its manufacturer by a specialist maker. New and more sympathetic flooring was specified and installed throughout by trusted suppliers, whilst we created decorative schemes that perfectly blend with the furniture & soft furnishings and key pieces of art that we sourced.
The idea as always was to balance the property’s history with 21st century living whilst respecting the grandeur of the existing spaces. Warmth was added with an inspired colour palette with touches of pattern used throughout to create a beautiful yet comfortable family home, rich in personality and history that perfectly reflects our clients’ personal tastes whilst respecting the architecture and period.of the house .
